At Holston View, stories didn’t just leap off the pages—they came to life. The school recently hosted its fourth annual Storytelling Caravan, an event dreamed up by kindergarten teacher Michelle Poole, designed to spark a love of reading in the most imaginative way possible.
Parents, students, and community volunteers transformed the school into a magical story trail, with stations that matched their favorite tales. Each stop along the caravan offered students a new world to explore, with volunteers dressing up, decorating, and bringing stories to life in ways that made literature feel vibrant and alive.
From the whimsy of a tale about unicorns, fairies, and mermaids to the prehistoric fun of Edwina, the Dinosaur Who Didn’t Know She Was Extinct, students from pre-K through fifth grade traveled from station to station, fully immersed in story after story. They laughed along to Dragons Love Tacos and enjoyed the always-beloved The Very Hungry Caterpillar.
The event wasn’t just about reading—it was about experiencing books in a new, interactive way, fostering curiosity, creativity, and, most importantly, a lifelong love of reading. Thanks to the passion and vision of Ms. Poole and the dedication of the Holston View community, the Storytelling Caravan continues to be a highlight of the school year, proving that the best stories are the ones we live together.
