Bristol Tennessee City Police Officer Lieutenant Cousins and his K-9 partner, Kai, made a special visit to Ms. Bush’s 5th-grade science class this week. The duo gave students an interactive lesson on animal behavior, responses, and conditioning. As part of the presentation, Lt. Cousins explained how K-9 units, like Kai, are trained to respond to specific commands and stimuli. He demonstrated various techniques used in conditioning service dogs, emphasizing the importance of consistent training and positive reinforcement. The students were captivated as Kai performed a series of commands, showcasing the bond between handler and K-9.
